Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 Launch with HarmonyOS NEXT Confirmed

After a slew of leaks and rumors, Huawei has officially announced next-generation earbuds dubbed the FreeBuds Pro 4. The teased announcement is said to be unveiled on these earbuds, which will debut HarmonyOS NEXT — Huawei’s in-house operating system, and the first such instance.

The news was announced through a Weibo post showing the FreeBuds Pro 4. Design-wise, it looks almost identical to the previous FreeBuds and retains a similar form factor along with those signature smooth curves. Now, rounds of discreet updates signal a sharpened style; a few visual accents like grille designs on the side and rear of each earbud. The earbuds are shown in an elegant black-metallic finish with a distinctive gold Huawei Sound logo, complemented by a gold rim encircling the back cover stick.

Huawei has set the official launch date for the FreeBuds Pro 4 on November 26th, during the company’s Mate Brand Festival. Other products slated for launch at the event include the eagerly awaited Mate 70 smartphone series. There aren’t many details available for the FreeBuds Pro 4, but knowing the specifications of the existing-gen FreeBuds Pro 3 could help.

The FreeBuds Pro 3 features advanced active noise cancellation (ANC) 3.0, powered by the Kirin A2 chip, which supports impressive 1.5Mbps lossless audio transmission using Polar code technology. They also feature high sound quality, noise cancellation, and long battery life. With QuietCall 2.0 technology which helps to further reduce background noises in calls, the FreeBuds Pro 3 is capable of up to 7 hours of playback on a single charge while extending to as much as 30 hours of listening when using the charging case. The FreeBuds Pro 4 is expected to build on these features, possibly adding new AI functionalities, reflecting the trend of AI integration in 2024 tech products.
