Holly Hobbie Finally Lands on Netflix — And the Whole Series Is Ready for a Weekend Binge

Good news for fans of wholesome, small-town coming-of-age stories: “Holly Hobbie” is heading to Netflix, and the streamer isn’t holding back — all five seasons drop at once on July 17, 2026. For anyone who’s been missing the cozy charm of shows like “Sweet Magnolias” or “Heartland,” this surprise pickup is basically a gift.

The series has had an interesting journey across platforms. It began as a Hulu Original in 2018 for its first three seasons, then moved to BYUtv and Disney Channel for its fourth and fifth before wrapping its full 50-episode run in 2022. Until now, it’s lived primarily on BYUtv in the US — but Netflix’s new licensing deal brings the entire library under one roof for the first time.

Holly Hobbie: Overview

Based on the iconic 1960s American Greetings character, this modern reimagining follows Holly, a determined 13-year-old farm girl and aspiring singer-songwriter living in the small town of Collinsville. Armed with a guitar and big dreams, she sets out to save her grandmother’s struggling café while navigating everything that comes with growing up — first crushes, friendship drama, family pressure, and the challenge of building a music career from scratch.

The show has earned real recognition along the way, including a Daytime Emmy nomination and a Canadian Screen Award for Best Children’s or Youth Program. Much of that praise centers on how authentically it portrays teenage life, paired with original music performed by lead actress Ruby Jay herself.

One of the biggest perks for new viewers: the series has already concluded, meaning you can dive in knowing exactly how the story ends — no waiting years for a renewal, and no risk of an unexpected cancellation. It’s part of a broader tradition of American Greetings characters expanding well beyond their original greeting card origins into full-fledged media franchises.
