Sometimes a post says more than a press release. On October 14, Jeremy Renner shared an Instagram story of classic West Coast Avengers comics next to a Hawkeye issue. There was no caption and no explanation, which is exactly why fans are talking.
Why This Hint Feels Deliberate?
Clint Barton founded and led the West Coast Avengers in the 1980s, so the comics in the photo aren’t random. Renner has also been left out of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, and he has said more than once that he isn’t in it. Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027) looks like the more likely home for any big reveal.
It also fits the history. The team was born during the original Secret Wars comic event, when Vision stayed behind on Earth, formed a second roster and picked Hawkeye to lead it.

Who Could Join the MCU Roster?
- Simon Williams (Wonder Man): A classic team member who already debuted in the MCU. His show was canceled, but a return remains possible.
- Kate Bishop: Hawkeye’s protégé, who founded her own West Coast Avengers in the comics in 2018.
- Vision: Even the upcoming VisionQuest shares its name with a famous West Coast Avengers story arc.
This isn’t the first time Renner has stirred up speculation. In August, he posted a caption-less photo of his Hawkeye costume, and nothing official followed. Still, his posts are rarely accidental, and the MCU is clearly hungry for fresh teams.
