Hardik Pandya Leaves Mumbai Behind: Shifts Permanent Training Base to BCCI’s CoE in Bengaluru

For over a decade, Mumbai was home. Now, Hardik Pandya is writing a new chapter — and for the first time in Indian cricket history, a centrally contracted star is making the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence his permanent training ground for the rest of his career.

From Ghansoli to Bengaluru — The End of an Era

Since joining Mumbai Indians in 2015, Hardik has trained almost exclusively at the Reliance Corporate Park in Ghansoli, the franchise’s official facility. Originally from Baroda in Gujarat, this Mumbai base had been the foundation of his entire professional journey. That chapter has now officially closed.

Why the Move? Injuries Forced the Decision

Pandya has been spending considerable time at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru since the start of the year, in and out of the BCCI facility while managing fitness concerns. Since IPL 2026 ended, he has been recovering from a quadriceps injury that has already cost him the India vs Afghanistan ODI series, the Ireland T20Is, and 8 white-ball matches against England.

A BCCI source confirmed the permanence of the move: “Hardik has already permanently shifted to Bengaluru. He has rented a property on the outskirts of the city, close to the CoE. He will be the first Indian cricketer to make the CoE his permanent training base for the remainder of his career.”

The Logic Behind the Shift

“Hardik wanted to move out of Mumbai, as commuting every day from his Lower Parel residence for training had become a problem. As a centrally contracted cricketer, he has access to every facility at the CoE, from injury management to skills training,” the source explained.

What’s Next

Pandya has taken a personal break and will return to the facility in a couple of days, with his fitness for the India tour of Zimbabwe in late July still uncertain. The source added that even during skill work, such as batting against net bowlers hired by the CoE, Hardik pays them from his own pocket — underlining how seriously he’s taking this new chapter of his career.
