Why the Date Changed — It’s All About Industry Solidarity

Tips Films shifted Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai to June 12, 2026, to steer clear of a direct box office clash with Yash’s highly anticipated action thriller Toxic, now scheduled for June 4 — emphasizing industry solidarity over unnecessary competition.

In a statement, the production banner noted: their film was originally scheduled for June 5, a date they had announced several months ago — but after recent developments and considering the prevailing situation, they felt it more appropriate to shift the release.

Smart move. A Varun Dhawan rom-com and a Yash action spectacle deserve their own separate weekends — and audiences deserve to enjoy both fully.

What’s the Film Actually About?

The film blends a lighthearted narrative with romantic elements, reportedly following the tale of a guy rejected by several women who ends up receiving divine help — literally from God.

The title itself is a nostalgic nod — borrowed directly from the chartbuster track of David Dhawan’s own 1999 blockbuster Biwi No. 1, starring Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, with a recreated version by Sachin-Jigar already generating buzz. TikTok

This also marks the fourth on-screen collaboration between father David Dhawan and son Varun Dhawan — following Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2, and Coolie No. 1. TikTok When this duo teams up, the box office almost always smiles back.

A Reunion Bollywood Has Been Waiting For

Director David Dhawan reunites with producer Ramesh Taurani for this lively romantic entertainer Soompi — a pairing that has historically delivered crowd-pleasing blockbusters through the 90s and 2000s. Add Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur to the mix, and the on-screen chemistry is practically guaranteed.
