Narnia is finally getting its big cosmic moment. Netflix has revealed the first poster for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, and the first trailer follows today, October 13, at 2 PM ET. That’s 11:30 PM IST for readers in India.
What Narnia Poster Shows?
The artwork is dominated by a huge profile silhouette of Aslan, his mane trailing into the stars, with the cosmos sitting inside the Great Lion. It’s a nod to the story’s central moment, when Aslan sings Narnia into existence.
At the center, two small riders soar on a winged horse through a burst of prismatic light. Book readers will spot Digory and Polly aboard Fledge. The tagline reads “A Universe Begins,” and the poster carries the Gerwig billing, the Narnia wordmark, the theatrical date and an IMAX credit.
Netflix also posted widescreen artwork with Aslan on the right and a swirling nebula of blues, lilacs and creams on the left. It’s a long way from the earthy look of the earlier Walden Media/Disney films.

The Cast and Look
Empire’s September first look confirmed that Meryl Streep voices Aslan, whose design is inspired by David Bowie, with heterochromia and red facial stripes. Daniel Craig plays the scheming Uncle Andrew Ketterley, and Emma Mackey plays the sorceress Jadis. The wider cast includes Carey Mulligan, Ciarán Hinds, David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Denise Gough and Susan Wokoma.
Gerwig’s Take
She has called her version a rock opera, nodding to David Bowie and The Who. The story also moves from the book’s 1900 setting to the 1950s. That glam-rock, creation-of-the-world angle runs through the costumes and artwork.
Why This Release Is a Big Deal?
Netflix delayed the film out of 2026 in exchange for a proper theatrical run. The 49-day window is the longest in Netflix history, at least for an English-language film of this scale. It’s a sign Netflix sees The Magician’s Nephew, based on the C. S. Lewis novel, as a true event movie.
