Google Pixel 8 Price and Specs: Everything you need to know

Google Pixel 8 Price and Specs: The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have been available for some time, so it’s time to turn our attention to their successors in the Pixel 8 series. We’re still a few months away from the projected October presentation of the new Pixel phones, but the rumour mills about Google Pixel 8 Price and Specs have already churned out a large quantity of information that’s difficult to ignore.

Google has yet to announce the Pixel 8 series’ debut, so pricing and availability are subject to change. Based on the history of Pixel phones, we can make a few informed guesses. If history is any guide, we can expect the Pixel 8 will be priced at $599. I wouldn’t be shocked if prices rose a little owing to inflation and other external causes, but I don’t see them falling in price.

Google Pixel 8 Price and Specs: Google I/O didn’t give any details

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series were both released in October, so it’s safe to predict the Pixel 8 will follow suit in October 2023. This year’s Google I/O 2023 keynote did not include a Pixel 8 teaser. But we haven’t heard any rumours to the contrary, so I’m going to pencil in a date in October for a possible Google hardware event.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro appeared to be fairly identical to their predecessors, and it appears that Google intends to keep things simple once more with an iterative design change. We already have several leaked renders of these next phones, which show a very familiar design.

The Pixel 8 is shown in white and black in the leaked renders. They both have a unique camera bar on the back that distinguishes the current crop of Pixel phones.  In contrast to the 7 Pro’s pill and circle design, all three cameras appear to be contained in a single glass pill.

Google Pixel 8 Price and Specs

The Pixel 8 Pro appears to have a flat front panel rather than the curved one found on the 7 Pro, and it will be interesting to see how it looks in real life. The Pixel 8 Pro’s purported dimensions – 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7mm — indicate that it will be slightly thinner than the current generation. The Pixel 8 render, on the other hand, appears to be identical to the Pixel 7, although its rumoured dimensions are smaller than the Pixel 7 — 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm vs. 155.6 x 73.2 x 8.7mm for the Pixel 7. Ross Young, a well-known display analyst, added fuel to the fire by disclosing details about the Pixel 8’s display size.

According to Young, the Pixel 8 will have a 6.16-inch OLED panel, down from the Pixel 7’s 6.32-inch panel. The Pixel 8 Pro is reported to keep the same display size as the existing Pixel 7 Pro model, therefore the Pro variant will have the same total footprint. If this is correct, we will have a more compact Pixel flagship this year. It’s not as short or as thin as the Galaxy S23, but it would still make a significant difference, especially when compared to the Pixel 7.
