Last year, Google decided to move its production line to Northern Vietnam from China, now it appears that the company will be manufacturing the Pixel 6 Series in China itself due to COVID-19 restrictions.

A report from Nikkei states that the governments in and around Asia have begun tightening their border controls due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

As a result of these stricter regulations, Google has been forced to continue its production line in China itself. The report suggests that the Pixel 5 was supposed to be manufactured in Vietnam, but the plan could not succeed owing to travel restrictions and ‘limited engineering resources’ in Vietnam.

So, the upcoming Pixel 6 and 6 Pro would be made in Shenzen, China. Google is not the only company that is forced to manufacture in China, as per the report, Apple was also planning to move a small chunk of its production line of MacBook and iPad to Vietnam, but now it has decided to continue production in China.

Earlier this month, Google gave us a look at the Pixel 6 and the 6 Pro. The upcoming Pixel smartphones will be coming with a protruding camera bar and a punch-hole camera on the front. Both the smartphones will be available in 3 different color variants with a dual-tone finish.

Google’s upcoming Tensor chipset will power the Pixel 6 Series, it could quite possibly be the first AI chipset in the market. The vanilla Pixel will come with two cameras at the back, while the Pro model will have three cameras, including a telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom.

The upcoming Pixel lineup will run on Android 12 along with MaterialYou design.

The Pixel 6 Series is expected to launch this year in the fall.
