New Google Cloud region opens in Delhi NCR

Google’s cloud services have grown a lot in the last couple of years and it is among the top cloud service providers in the world competing with the likes of AWS, Microsoft Azure and others. However, until now in India, it had only one Google Cloud region in Mumbai and today, it has opened a new region at India’s capital Delhi.

This is Google’s commitment to invest in technology infrastructure which will eventually help Indian organisations build a digital-first future. This will help to partner with local developers, entrepreneurs, and enterprises alike to accelerate innovation, according to Google.

A lot of eminent people like Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, TCS MD & CEO Rajesh Gopinathan, SAP CEO Christian Klein, HDFC Bank CIO and others join this launch event this morning.

Most of them being Google Cloud’s eminent clients, the new Delhi NCR Google Cloud region will help a lot in this pandemic as most works are still being sorted out from home. As Google states, “a local Google Cloud region provides the speed, scale, and access to a globally networked infrastructure so India can get solving.”

Storing and serving a huge scale of data from Google cloud servers is being implemented by all companies these days. Not only organizations but also young entrepreneurs, data scientists, AI enthusiasts, a lot of Indians and common people can benefit from this launch.

As Google says, “Let’s use the power of data to help catalyze transformation. Leverage more data and deeper insights to solve your company’s most important and impactful challenges, make more effective, data-driven decisions, and ultimately, drive better business outcomes. Our unified platform makes it easy for your business to get the most from structured or unstructured data, regardless of where your data is stored.”

Here are the benefits of having a local Google Cloud region:

✓   Enterprise-grade services with low latency and high availability

✓   In-country disaster recovery

✓   Transparency, privacy and data residency delivers data control

✓   Trusted and scalable zero trust architecture

✓   Built for sustainability

Another major benefit of Google Cloud is its strongest security capabilities so that people and organizations focus on what they do best without worrying about their data, applications, and infrastructure is at risk. Also, this is a huge step in revolutionizing the digital India we dream of and with more such launches and announcements, cloud computing in India will greatly benefit.
