Some on-screen pairings just deserve a second chance, and fans are hoping this is one of them. Industry insiders report that Gong Seung Yeon has received an offer to join Lee Jun Hyuk in the upcoming drama A Casual Lie (working title), with discussions reportedly in their final stages. Her agency, VARO Entertainment, has confirmed the offer exists but stressed that nothing is finalized yet. For more K-drama casting updates, check out the Technosports Korean entertainment section.
Lee Jun Hyuk was confirmed earlier this year to lead the project, based on author Kim Eon Hee’s popular web novel of the same name. The story follows Tae Jun Seop, grandson of TK Group’s chairman and widely seen as the “perfect man,” whose life gets complicated when copywriter Yeon Woo Kyung enters the picture amid a fierce corporate succession battle.
What makes this casting news even more interesting for fans of the genre is the shared universe connection. A Casual Lie sits alongside Iseop’s Romance, another Kim Eon Hee web novel adaptation starring Lee Jong Suk. While the two dramas follow different protagonists with standalone storylines, they’re tied together through a shared narrative universe, a storytelling approach increasingly popular in modern television and reminiscent of the interconnected format pioneered by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
If Gong Seung Yeon signs on, it would mark her reunion with Lee Jun Hyuk after their first collaboration in the 2018 KBS2 drama Are You Human Too?, where she played a corporate bodyguard opposite his operations team leader role. Catch more casting buzz and drama news on Technosports entertainment.
