GoMill, a millet-focused brand under EBG Group’s Native Touch, has partnered with the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), Government of Andhra Pradesh. The collaboration aims to establish 100 millet-based food and retail outlets, empowering 500 urban Self-Help Group (SHG) women entrepreneurs and generating approximately 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities across Andhra Pradesh.

The initiative seeks to create sustainable livelihood opportunities by supporting women in establishing and operating millet-based businesses. It addresses challenges faced by urban SHG women, such as limited access to structured business models, branding, product development, and market linkages.

GoMill Program Structure and Support

Under the partnership, GoMill will provide comprehensive, end-to-end support to participating entrepreneurs. This includes:
* Enterprise creation and development of franchise-based millet food and retail units.
* Product and menu development, aligning with growing consumer interest in healthy food options.
* Branding strategies and infrastructure planning for kiosks and retail outlets.
* Extensive training covering food safety, hygiene, customer service, inventory management, quality assurance, and business operations.
* Supply-chain assistance and ongoing operational mentoring.

AP MEPMA will leverage its extensive grassroots network across Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to identify and mobilize eligible women entrepreneurs. The agency will also facilitate access to bank linkages and various livelihood-promotion schemes, ensuring robust institutional support for the beneficiaries.

Economic Empowerment Through Millets

Dr. Irfan Khan, Founder of EBG Group (https://www.linkedin.com/company/ebg-group/), emphasized the role of entrepreneurship as a sustainable pathway to economic empowerment. “Through GoMill, we aim to build an ecosystem that not only encourages healthier food choices but also enables women to establish profitable and sustainable enterprises,” Khan stated. He added that the partnership combines GoMill’s product and market capabilities with MEPMA’s strong grassroots presence, targeting a scalable model that integrates nutrition, entrepreneurship, and community development.

The program’s objective is to build commercially sustainable businesses for the participating women. Beyond the initial setup, GoMill, supported by the broader ecosystem, will provide continuous mentoring, marketing assistance, and performance monitoring. This approach is designed to help entrepreneurs navigate market dynamics and sustain their operations.

The collaboration aligns with India’s renewed focus on promoting millets, a sector where the country is the world’s largest producer, contributing over 38% of global production. The pilot program in Andhra Pradesh is intended to serve as a model for wider implementation, contributing to both public health and economic development.
