God of War Ragnarok: Sony’s Next big entry is as hyped as its 2018 Predecessor

When it comes to God of War Ragnarok, the recent days have been a peculiar case of the important news being unreported. Several typically trustworthy insiders came together this week and agreed that a God of War Ragnarok release date announcement and presentation of some sort occurred on June 30. Nothing occurred after that. Insiders have since claimed that God of War Ragnarok will still be released this year, most likely in November, but that the announcement was abruptly withdrawn. This has been substantially corroborated by those involved in the game’s creation, including 2018 GoW director Cory Barlog.

Jason Schreier has recently reentered the debate in a comment on ResetEra, one of the initial sources of the June 30 reports. Schreier claims that the announcement for God of War Ragnarok was delayed sometime last week, maybe as a result of the continuous uproar around the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Nevertheless, he also states that November is still scheduled, and anticipation for the match is great.

After talking with more folks yesterday, I can definitively say that there was a release date/pre-order announcement planned for yesterday. It was bumped at some point last week. I don’t know why. Also, PlayStation has been trying to keep secrets so badly that most SSM employees weren’t even told about it. As of this week the game is still on track for November. People working on it say it’s huge and seem to be pretty excited about it. Reminds me of the buzz I was hearing before the 2018 one.

There have been some reservations regarding the game’s scope because we have seen so little of it. that rather than the ambitious sequel that most people are anticipating for, it might be more like a God of War 1.5. It appears that this isn’t the case, if Schreier is correct. So ideally the wait won’t be too long, says insider Tom Henderson, Sony basically has the announcement ready to go anytime.

Let’s all take a breath for the time being. It has been reported that God of War devs have received a lot of hostility and hate over the past few days. While this is never acceptable, it is especially absurd in light of the fact that God of War Ragnarok has not, according to all sources, been delayed.
