Global tablet market grows by 53% in the first quarter of 2021: Counterpoint

The global tablet market has grew by 53% in the first quarter of 2021 according to counterpoint.

In 2020, the tablet was revived as due to COVID-19, students needed bigger screens for classes, office employees needed a more convenient way to display their work and since people were isolated in their homes they needed a bigger screen for entertainment purposes.

All this resulted in a sudden increase in demand of tablets and in 2020 the tablet market grew by 33% and the following year although there was a decline due to offseason being in place but it quickly recovered in the 1st quarter of 2021.

Due to this sudden rush the market leaders Apple and Samsung also had to increase production and the frequency of shipment delivery across the world in order to supply this newly emergent demand.

The companies made best of the opportunities to capture the market and expanded their markets across the world, they promoted and released new products and managed to attract new customers to their product.

For example, Apple has managed to sell 33% more iPads in comparison to their sales in 2019 while in 2021 their product captured 37% of the entire market.

Senior Analyst Liz Lee stated The basic iPad models accounted for 56% of the overall iPad shipments in Q1 2021. The iPad Air and iPad Pro series came next with 19% and 18% shares, respectively. Since consumers are constantly concerned about prices and portability, the latest iPad 8 emerged as the top-selling model. Launched in October 2020, the iPad Air 4 ranked second on the bestseller list as it was a huge hit with consumers looking for cost-effectiveness as well as high specifications.”
