“Ginny & Georgia” Season 4 Is Almost Here — And the Showrunner Just Spilled Everything

Fans of “Ginny & Georgia” got an unusually candid look behind the curtain this week, as showrunner Sarah Lampert answered a flood of fan questions in an Instagram Q&A about Season 4’s post-production, its most emotional episodes, and what’s next for the show.

Ginny & Georgia Season 4 Is in the Home Stretch

Post-production is officially in full swing, with Lampert naming episodes 6, 7, 9, and 10 as the season’s most emotional stretch. The showrunner admitted that watching the director’s cut of Episode 10 brought them to tears within the first five minutes — not from a tragic twist, but out of pure pride in what the cast and crew pulled off this season.

Episode 9 proved especially tricky to edit down to time, described as “agonizing” during the trial-and-error trimming process with producers and Netflix executives. Despite the struggle, Lampert teased it as a “phenomenal” episode, highlighting a standout inner-monologue sequence for Maxine, drawing on the showrunner’s own experience with ADD and OCD, brought to life by actress Sara Waisglass.

What About Ginny & Georgia Season 5?

Not confirmed yet. When asked directly, Lampert was straightforward: “We don’t know about season five yet.” Netflix hasn’t officially renewed the show for a fifth season, meaning Season 4’s viewership will likely play a big role in that decision — though given the show’s consistently strong performance on the platform, that shouldn’t come as a major worry for fans.

Fun Behind-the-Scenes Details

Lampert also shared some fun production trivia: the Miller and Baker house exteriors are real homes across the street from each other, while interiors are soundstage sets. The show uses “block shooting,” filming up to four episodes on a single day, which forces hair and makeup teams to keep styles simple. There’s also a running gag where Lampert keeps forgetting to write Max’s jean jacket back into Ginny’s wardrobe each season as a friendship callback. And notably, AI plays zero role in the show’s post-production — Lampert’s answer on that was a flat “Nope.”
