By Episode 8, that episode’s first-day views were up 76% from the premiere — and the show’s available episodes had amassed over 45 million hours streamed globally across Hulu and Disney+. Episode 4 had already shown a 20% viewership increase compared to the series premiere after just one day of streaming.

The renewal is not a major surprise given how quickly The Testaments became a streaming success, showing consistent growth as the weeks progressed.

What Hulu Said — The Official Word

The sophomore pickup came exactly one week ahead of the Season 1 finale — dropping Wednesday, May 27, at 3 AM ET — and just hours after the season’s penultimate episode was released.

The renewal announcement did not confirm when Season 2 will debut. Ann Dowd and Chase Infiniti lead the cast, which includes Lucy Halliday, Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, and Mattea Conforti. The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss returns as June Osborn in a guest-starring role.

Chase Infiniti, who plays Agnes, took to her Instagram story following the announcement, writing: “Season 2 babyyyyy. Thank you for all the love on our show.” Good Morning America

What Makes The Testaments Worth Returning For?

The series follows young teens Agnes (Chase Infiniti), dutiful and pious, and Daisy (Lucy Halliday), a new arrival from beyond Gilead’s borders. As they navigate the gilded halls of Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school for future wives, their bond becomes the catalyst that will upend their past, their present, and their future. Variety

The renewal ensures that the complex web of propaganda, systemic corruption, and teenage angst will get the full runtime it deserves to unravel properly in Season 2. The TV Cave
