What happens when a coach who chases results meets a teacher who cares about the journey? tvN’s upcoming sports drama GIFT is about to find out. A new glimpse of Seo Eun Soo in character shows why her role as Yoon Seo Jin could become the heart of the series.

What Is GIFT About?

Based on a popular webtoon, GIFT follows Jung Min Yong (Kim Woo Bin), a former professional baseball pitching coach. After an unexpected accident gives him a special ability, he ends up as head coach of the nation’s last-ranked high school team. If you like underdog stories, it’s a setup that works. You can read about the sport itself on Wikipedia’s baseball page.

Meet Yoon Seo Jin

Seo Eun Soo plays Yoon Seo Jin, a physical education teacher who supervises the Deokcheon High School baseball team. She’s a mix of warmth and grit:

Kind to her students: She’s approachable and friendly when talking with them.
Tough against injustice: She doesn’t back down and takes action to protect the team and keep them playing.
A believer in potential: She trusts the players’ passion and works to build an environment where they can grow.

The Clash at the Core

The drama’s central tension comes from two opposing philosophies. Jung Min Yong prioritises results and performance, while Yoon Seo Jin values the journey the players take toward their goals. Their different views on managing the team put them at odds once he becomes head coach.

Newly released stills show Seo Jin chatting comfortably with the baseball players, which highlights how close she is with her students.

Why It’s Worth Watching?

Sports dramas work best when the conflict is about more than winning. Here, the debate between performance and growth gives the story an emotional layer. Add a hint of the supernatural through Min Yong’s special ability, and GIFT looks like a series with both heart and a twist. Mark your calendar for December 5, and check out the teaser on Soompi in the meantime.
