Governance Framework for Gaming Growth

The Governing Council serves as GDAI’s executive body for operational governance and policy advocacy, translating industry priorities into action across three critical pillars: policy engagement with government on taxation and IP protection, talent development through industry-ready skilling and structured apprenticeships, and ecosystem funding to enable studios creating original IP.

GDAI Chairperson Sridhar Muppidi states: “With the Governing Council in place, GDAI now has a strong leadership and execution engine. This structure translates industry priorities into action, enabling Indian studios to create and own original IP, scale globally, and position India as a competitive game development hub.”

Industry Leaders Driving Change

The 21-member council includes prominent figures: Roby John (Supergaming), Keerti Singh (Hitwicket), Dayanidhi MG (Electronic Arts), Deepak M V (Nazara Technologies), Akshat Rathee (NODWIN Gaming), and Anuj Tandon (BITKRAFT Ventures).

Akshat Rathee, NODWIN Gaming Managing Director, adds: “The time for gaming and esports to become true value creators in India’s interactive entertainment ecosystem is now. Through GDAI’s Governing Council, we’ll work with government and stakeholders to amplify young India’s voice.”

Global Perspective, Indian Potential

Oliver Jones, Welsh founder of Moonfrog Labs, emphasizes: “I came to India for the talent and stayed for the potential. Indian game developers compete with anyone globally. Through the Council, we’ll remove barriers—infrastructure, investment, policy—preventing them from realizing that potential.”
