A Song That Keeps Making History

“Gangnam Style” wasn’t just a viral hit in 2012 — it fundamentally changed how the world thought about internet culture and Korean pop music going global. It became the first video in YouTube history to reach 1 billion views, a milestone that, at the time, actually broke YouTube’s view counter, forcing the platform to upgrade its systems.

More than a decade later, the track remains a defining moment in K-pop‘s international breakthrough, predating the genre’s now-massive global footprint by several years. Its continued climb toward 6 billion views shows the song has never really left the cultural conversation — it just keeps finding new audiences.
