Which One Is the Better Buy?

The Xiaomi 17 Pro makes the Galaxy S26+ work very hard to justify its higher price. A 6300mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging vs 4900mAh at 45W is not a close contest — Xiaomi gets you topped up in under 40 minutes, while Samsung is still climbing. The camera advantage is equally clear: a 50MP Leica telephoto at 5x optical versus Samsung’s 10MP 3x lens isn’t even comparable at this tier.

The Galaxy S26+ punches back with a larger 6.7-inch screen, Samsung’s Galaxy AI ecosystem, and crucially, seven years of Android updates — a promise Xiaomi simply hasn’t matched globally. One UI 8.5 is also a more polished day-to-day software experience than HyperOS 3 for most Western users. The S26+ also ships with Snapdragon in key markets like the US, though European buyers will get Exynos 2600.
