Galaxy S26 Series Set for February 2026 Launch Without Edge

Samsung has confirmed plans to unveil the Galaxy S26 series on February 25, 2026, in San Francisco—marking a strategic shift from its usual January timeline and lineup composition.

Launch Date and Venue Details

Samsung will host Galaxy Unpacked 2026 on February 25 in San Francisco, with AI taking center stage at the event. This marks Samsung’s first return to San Francisco since the Galaxy S23 launch in 2023.

Why the Edge Got Canceled

The Galaxy S26 Edge has been dropped after the S25 Edge shipped only 1.31 million units, compared to over 12 million for the standard and Plus models. Samsung is reverting to its familiar trio: base, Plus, and Ultra variants.

What Changed:

• S26 Edge variant canceled
• Traditional Plus model returns
• Base and Ultra models retained
• “More Slim” project continues separately

Reasons Behind the Launch Delay

Samsung’s decision to continue with the Plus variant instead of the Edge led to production delays, with the company needing additional time to develop the S26 Plus. The Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra development is reportedly complete, but mass production has been pushed back.

Another factor is the Exynos 2600 chipset testing, with Samsung Foundry’s 2nm yield currently around 35 percent, requiring extra refinement time before mass production.

What to Expect from S26 Series

The flagship lineup will feature advanced M14 OLED displays with QHD+ resolution across all models, enhanced AI capabilities, and either Exynos 2600 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processors depending on the region.
