- Thousands of $GAL Fan Token holders from around the world voted in this first-of-its-kind poll, which generated a wave of new users on the Socios.com app.
ISTANBUL – AUGUST 30, 2021: Galatasaray’s new signing, 22-year old Romanian midfielder Olimpiu Moruţan, will wear number 21 this season, fans decided through a ground-breaking poll launched on Friday by the Turkish football giant on the Socios.com app.
Thousands of users from up to 70 different countries took part in the poll, in which Galatasaray fans were asked to pick between three options: 10, 14 and 21. It was an extremely tight race, with 21 winning by just a handful of votes to beat the other options 10 and 14. 37.30% of the fans voted for number 21, whilst 34.52% opted for number 10.
Despite only being active for 21 hours, the poll attracted more votes than any other poll ever launched by Galatasaray on Socios.com. Furthermore, it drove a 10 percent increase in $GAL token holders, generating the highest in-app $GAL token buys since June 11th.
The poll also unleashed a wave of new users, with the Socios.com app achieving an all-time high of daily new app users on Friday, the day the poll was officially launched.
This was the first time ever a major football club let their fans decide the squad number for a new signing, and sets a new milestone in the exciting journey of Socios.com and its mission to leverage cutting-edge blockchain technology to transform the role of fans in sports from passive spectators to active players .
