The Shows You Need to Watch

High Tides (Knokke Off) Season 3: The Final Curtain

The glamorous Belgian coastal town of Knokke becomes the backdrop for the dramatic conclusion of this popular series. After months recovering in a psychiatric institution, Louise returns home determined to reclaim control of her life—only to discover everything has changed in her absence.

Alex and Daan harbor dangerous secrets. The once-powerful Vandael family real estate empire teeters on collapse. When rival developer Anton Vermeer resurfaces, old debts and new lies threaten to consume everyone. The central question driving this final season: will Louise, Daan, and Alex maintain their integrity, or become permanently trapped in their own web of deception?

The stellar cast includes Pommelien Thijs, Willem De Schryver, Anna Drijver, and Daan Schuurmans, all delivering emotionally charged performances that have made this series a Benelux phenomenon.

The Perfect Lie (De Eetclub): Dinner Parties Turn Deadly

Based on Saskia Noort’s bestselling novel, The Perfect Lie explores the dark underbelly of affluent suburban life. When Karen relocates to Bergen with her family, they’re warmly welcomed into an exclusive circle of friends who enjoy lavish dinner parties and seemingly perfect lifestyles.

The facade shatters when one of the luxury villas erupts in flames, killing their friend Evert in the inferno. As Karen investigates the tragedy, she uncovers a tangled network of lies, affairs, and hidden agendas beneath the polished surface. The more she digs, the more dangerous her quest for truth becomes—but Karen refuses to stop, even at great personal cost.

Leading this psychological thriller are Loes Haverkort, Remko Vrijdag, Noortje Herlaar, and Rifka Lodeizen, bringing depth to characters whose perfect lives hide devastating secrets.

Toos: The Kidnapping That Shocked the Netherlands

Toos dramatizes one of the most notorious crimes in Dutch history: the 1982 kidnapping of Toos van der Valk, wife of hotel magnate Gerrit van der Valk. This nerve-wracking true crime drama chronicles the harrowing twenty-day ordeal that gripped the nation.

Lies Visschedijk portrays Toos with raw vulnerability, while Frank Lammers (Undercover fame) plays Gerrit van der Valk, struggling to hold his family together under impossible pressure. As the van der Valk family faces their darkest hour, police officer Cor Mulder goes undercover at the family’s hotel, racing against time to identify the kidnappers.

Meanwhile, Toos fights for survival in captivity, using every resource at her disposal to stay alive. The series promises to deliver the tension and emotional weight this landmark case deserves.

Roosters (Haantjes) Season 2: New Men, Same Problems

Following its chart-topping first season, Roosters returns with Mike, Danny, Ivo, and Greg continuing their journey toward modern masculinity. After completing a confrontational course designed to reshape their worldview, these four friends have become more emotionally open and self-aware.

There’s just one problem: nobody asked them to change. Their newfound sensitivity clashes hilariously (and painfully) with the expectations of wives, girlfriends, colleagues, and friends who preferred the old versions. This smart comedy-drama explores what happens when personal growth outpaces societal evolution.

Returning cast members Jeroen Spitzenberger, Waldemar Torenstra, André Dongelmans, and Benja Bruijning are joined by fresh faces including Tanja Jess and Freek Bartels, promising new dynamics and conflicts.

Love is Blind: Netherlands: Can You Fall in Love Without Seeing?

The global dating phenomenon finally arrives in the Netherlands, hosted by power couple Nicolette van Dam and Bas Smit. The format remains unchanged but culturally specific: Dutch singles meet potential partners through walls, conversing without ever seeing each other.

Only after proposing can couples finally meet face-to-face. From there, they navigate cohabitation, family introductions, and ultimately stand at the altar deciding whether to commit or walk away. The Dutch dating culture known for directness and pragmatism should create fascinating dynamics within this emotionally vulnerable format.

The Dutch Streaming Revolution

These five productions showcase the Netherlands’ commitment to diverse, quality storytelling—from glossy drama to gritty true crime, introspective comedy to relationship experiments. Netflix’s continued investment in Dutch content reflects both local success and international appeal, with previous hits like Undercover finding audiences far beyond the Benelux region.
