A Closer Look at Each Attendee

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan — No name is more synonymous with India at Cannes than Aishwarya. A multi-decade veteran of the festival, every appearance she makes becomes a pop-culture moment in itself — discussed, debated, and obsessed over across social media for days. From dramatic ball gowns to regal Indian silhouettes, she has consistently redefined what it means to represent India on a global red carpet. Expect nothing less this year.

Alia Bhatt — She was already spotted at Mumbai airport on April 11, 2026, confirming her departure for Cannes. Last year’s appearances — a Gucci saree-inspired look and a full Giorgio Armani Privé gown — set an exceptionally high bar. The question isn’t whether Alia will make an impression; it’s whether she’ll top herself.

Aditi Rao Hydari — The actress who walked Cannes 2025 in a look built around the sindoor — a deeply personal, culturally resonant choice — returns with the same instinct to combine traditional Indian aesthetics with international couture. Her red carpet choices tend to feel intentional and considered in a way that makes them genuinely stand apart from the crowd.

Tara Sutaria — Making her Cannes debut ahead of the release of Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-ups, co-starring Yash. Known for a sophisticated, fashion-forward personal style, Tara’s first appearance on the Croisette is expected to introduce her to a much wider international audience. A strong debut could significantly raise her global profile ahead of the film’s release.

Jacqueline Fernandez — For her Cannes 2026 appearance, Jacqueline is reportedly approaching the red carpet with a level of personal involvement that goes beyond typical celebrity styling — from couture fittings to hands-on styling decisions. This is someone who understands the stakes and is preparing accordingly.

Ammy Virk — The most culturally significant debut on this list in terms of what it represents. Ammy Virk attending Cannes for the screening of his Punjabi film Chardikala, accompanied by Roopinder Kaur Gill, is being recognised as a proud moment for Punjabi cinema on the international stage — part of a broader pattern of regional Indian cinema earning global recognition.

Ashutosh Gowariker — The acclaimed Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar director attends as part of India’s official delegation in his capacity as Director of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). His presence signals India’s growing institutional engagement with the world’s most prestigious film festival.
