Playground Games’ vibrant racer, Forza Horizon 5, has shifted gears and sped past a monumental milestone: 40 million players worldwide! This impressive number, revealed by Xbox insider Klobrille and initially spotted by SnapBlastPLAY on the in-game Hall of Fame leaderboard, signifies the global appeal of Forza Horizon 5’s open-world racing experience.

While the figure doesn’t necessarily represent active players currently tearing up the Mexican landscape, it undeniably highlights the massive player base that has downloaded and experienced Forza Horizon 5 since its launch in November 2021.

A Steady Stream of Racers

Looking back, Forza Horizon 5 has consistently attracted new players month after month. Shortly after launch, Xbox head Phil Spencer announced a staggering 4.5 million players had already jumped behind the wheel.

This momentum continued, with the player count reaching 37 million in February 2024. Considering the latest figures, that translates to roughly half a million new players joining the Forza Horizon 5 community every month – a testament to the game’s enduring popularity.

A Recipe for Success

Several factors contribute to Forza Horizon 5’s continued success. The game’s stunning recreation of Mexico, boasting diverse landscapes ranging from lush jungles to towering volcanoes, provides a visually breathtaking backdrop for racing adventures. The extensive car list, featuring hundreds of meticulously detailed vehicles from renowned manufacturers, caters to a wide range of racing preferences.

Furthermore, Playground Games’ commitment to ongoing content keeps players engaged. Expansions like Hot Wheels (released July 2022) and Rally Adventures (March 2023) injected fresh experiences and challenges, while regular updates deliver new events, challenges, and cars to keep the virtual festival vibrant.

Forza Horizon 5’s availability on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC through the Xbox Game Pass subscription service undoubtedly plays a significant role in its player base’s growth.
