The Season So Far — Quick Recap

Season 5 picks up in the years following the Goldilocks asteroid heist. Happy Valley has grown into a thriving Martian colony with thousands of residents, serving as a base for new missions that will take humanity even further into the solar system. But with the nations of Earth now demanding law and order on the Red Planet, friction continues to build between the people who live on Mars and their former home.

The season has been defined by a seismic character shift — the poignant departure of Ed Baldwin, one of the series’ main protagonists, has fundamentally altered the power dynamics of the show, with new faces stepping into positions of influence and authority. PRIMETIMER

Episode 5 raised the stakes considerably. Happy Valley has been seeing more protests after word got out about intentions to automate. Workers protesting the threat of displacement led troops to impose curfews and crowd control measures. Meanwhile, Celia has been investigating Yoon’s death and found suit checkout records connecting Fred to the night of the incident — with the inquiry revealing that Yoon was involved in blackmail tied to Kuragin’s automated method.
