Flipkart Big Billion Days sale ended on October 10. The e-commerce giant has said that the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale was a massive hit and the hoppers help them achieve some new records. Flipkart, on its Big Billion Days microsite, has thanked buyers for the response and said that Indians saved a whopping Rs 115 Billion during the week-long festive sale from the Walmart-owned company. 

The Big Billion Days (TBBD) 2021, drove robust growth opportunities for sellers and MSMEs. There were more than 55% new sellers onboarding the platform this Big Billion Days compared to the previous year.

During the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale, shoppers saved around Rs 11,500 crores as over 3.75 lakh sellers joined hands in the “biggest Indian sale ever.” Flipkart said that it sold enough smartphones that if put together vertically, they’ll be taller than 1,000 Burj Khalifa buildings. A watch was sold every 2 seconds during the sale, and the amount of tea that was sold in one hour can make about 50 lakh cups of tea. About 1.2 lakh chocolate bars were sold in 24 hours, and according to Flipkart, the boxes of the shoes sold during the Big Billion Days sale are 100 times the height of Mount Everest!

Flipkart advances Big Billion Days sale to counter Amazon, now starts on 3rd October

Top artisans and weaver partners from the Flipkart Samarth program witnessed a growth of 6X compared to last year’s Big Billion Days sale event, with the most popular products belonging to the Homedecor, Natural Beauty products and Women Ethnic categories. The Samarth initiative is aimed at uplifting and embracing local artisans, weavers and micro-enterprises into the e-commerce fold.

During The Big Billion Days 2021 sale event, Flipkart witnessed 2x growth in the sale of premium smartphones compared to 2020. It is worth mentioning that every 1 in 5 smartphones sold during TBBD 2021 was 5G-enabled. On the other hand, in the consumer electronics segment, smartwatches and fitness bands witnessed a 100%jump from last year.

For its B2B arm Flipkart Wholesale, which caters to over 1.5 million kiranas, the company saw a 1.3X jump in the number of kirana and retail members onboarding the platform this Big Billion Days. “Indicating a shift in trend to digital commerce for B2B, over 45 per cent of Flipkart Wholesale’s customer base transacted online and 35 per cent of them opted for self-service,” the company said in a statement. Flipkart said it is aiming to make over 30 million deliveries through kirana delivery partners this festive season.

According to the Walmart-owned e-commerce firm, 57% of the new sellers hailed from Tier-2, Tier-3, and smaller cities and towns such as Jaipur, Surat, Howrah, Tirupur and Panipat, among others.
