Mark the Date: First El Clásico of the Season Set for October 25 at Camp Nou

El Clásico: Spanish football’s greatest rivalry has its opening date, and the timing couldn’t be more loaded with storylines. Barcelona will host Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou on October 25, 2026, kicking off the first of two Clásicos this season with José Mourinho making his return to this fixture as Madrid boss.

El Clásico Match Details

A Rivalry Barcelona Currently Own

Barcelona head into this Clásico with genuine momentum on their side, having won six of their last seven meetings against Real Madrid across LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup, racking up 22 goals scored to just 11 conceded across that stretch. Hansi Flick’s side have also outperformed Madrid domestically over the past two seasons, lifting five trophies including two LaLiga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, and a Copa del Rey.

Mourinho’s Second Coming Adds Extra Spice

This will mark Mourinho’s first Clásico since returning to the Bernabéu dugout for his second spell in charge, adding a fresh layer of intrigue to an already historic fixture. With both clubs opening the campaign against tricky opponents — Barcelona hosting Athletic Club and Madrid welcoming Real Sociedad — early season form heading into October will matter significantly.

Why the May Return Leg Matters Even More

The reverse fixture at the Bernabéu on May 9 carries potentially massive title implications, arriving with just three matches left in the season — a scheduling quirk that could turn it into a genuine title decider depending on how the campaign unfolds. Full LaLiga fixtures are available on the official LaLiga website.
