Fauda S5: The Wait Is Finally Over: Fauda Returns After a Cliffhanger Four Years in the Making

Few shows leave fans hanging quite like “Fauda” did. After Season 4 ended on a nerve-shredding cliffhanger back in 2022, the acclaimed Israeli action-thriller is finally coming back — and its return has been anything but simple.

The Official Release Date

Fauda Season 5 premieres globally on Netflix on September 8, 2026. The season already aired in Israel on the Yes network starting May 18, and creator Lior Raz confirmed the global Netflix date directly on social media.

Why This Season Took So Long

Production on Season 5 hit a major roadblock. Creators Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff reportedly had a finished script ready back in 2023 — but scrapped it entirely following the October 7 attacks and the subsequent war. The show was rewritten from the ground up to reflect the real-world events and their aftermath, with Raz describing the new season as a “blood-revenge season” rooted in real stories. Filming, originally planned for Marseille, was also relocated to Budapest for security reasons.

Cast Updates

Series regulars Lior Raz, Itzik Cohen, Doron Ben-David, Yaakov Zada Daniel, and Lucy Ayoub all return. French actress Mélanie Laurent, known for Inglourious Basterds, joins the cast this season. Notably, Idan Amedi, who played Sagi, won’t return as a series regular — he was called up for IDF reserve duty during the Gaza war and was severely injured in combat in early 2024. He has since recovered and is currently focused on his music career.
