Fading Grandeur Netflix Release Date: Inside the Spanish Comedy About a Broke Marquis Selling His Soul

Netflix’s Spanish content slate just got a witty new addition. Fading Grandeur — a six-part comedy about a penniless aristocrat clinging to his fading title — is set to land on the platform on October 23, 2026, and the premise alone is enough to hook comedy fans.

What Is Fading Grandeur About?

The series follows Don Leandro, a ruined marquis who lives entirely on appearances while dreaming of becoming a Grandee of Spain — one of the country’s highest historical noble ranks. With his finances in freefall, Leandro sees only one option: selling his decaying family mansion in Madrid. Things get complicated when wealthy businesswoman Sofía Carrington shows serious interest in the property — and it soon becomes clear that neither of them is quite who they claim to be.

The Cast Bringing the Comedy to Life

Antonio de la Torre leads as Don Leandro, bringing his signature blend of dry wit and desperation to the role. He’s previously featured in Netflix titles like The Motive and The Endless Trench, and is widely known for films such as Marshland and The Last Circus.

Opposite him, Alexandra Jiménez plays Conchi, adding to her growing Netflix résumé that includes 100 Meters and Harlan Coben’s The Innocent. The supporting cast rounds out with Enric Benavent, Fernando Andina, Teresa Rabal, Mercedes Sampietro and Celia de Molina — a solid ensemble built to carry the show’s satirical tone.

Why This One’s Worth Watching?

Creators Fernández-Armero and Cavestany previously collaborated on Shame and We’re Sorry for the Inconvenience, both known for skewering social pretension with sharp comic timing. Fading Grandeur looks set to continue that streak — using old-money desperation and new-money ambition as its comic engine, with just enough mystery around Sofía’s true motives to keep viewers guessing episode to episode.
