Al Ittihad have reached an agreement with Liverpool for the transfer of Fabinho. The midfielder has agreed personal terms with them for a three-year contract, and the final details are set to be confirmed to seal the move.

The Brazilian becomes the second senior midfielder to leave the club this summer, after captain Jordan Henderson joined Al Ettifaq. The transfer will see him join Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane at the club, after the two former France internationals signed early in the summer transfer window.

The transfer fee for the move has not been revealed as of yet, but it is expected to be at least €30-40 million for the defensive midfielder. Fabinho’s departure leaves Liverpool short-staffed in the number 6 role, which the club is recruiting for right now.

The likes of Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone had been linked in the past. But in recent weeks, a move for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has gained traction with the Reds even submitting a formal bid to sign the teenager.

With the experienced Fabinho leaving the club, Jurgen Klopp will need to add one more holding midfielder to help them have a complete set of profiles in the middle of the park. The German has mentioned that there are more signings to come in midfield, but there are other clubs interested in signing Lavia as well. As a result, the Merseysiders will need to hurry up to complete the deal for the young Belgian.
