EXO-Ls, brace yourselves. One of the group’s most-loved pairings is stepping into the spotlight together. On November 2, Newsen reported that Kai and Sehun will make their official unit debut in December, and SM Entertainment has confirmed it.

What SM Entertainment Said?

The agency confirmed that the two will release their first mini album this December as a new unit of EXO, and asked fans for their continued interest and anticipation. No title, tracklist or exact date has been announced yet, so everything beyond December is still under wraps. For background on the group, see the Wikipedia page on Exo.

Meet the “94z”

Kai and Sehun were both born in 1994, which is why fans lovingly call them the “94z.” They’re known for their easy chemistry, and this unit feels like a natural next step rather than a surprise pairing.

A Friendship Built in Plain Sight

Fans have seen glimpses of this partnership for a while now:

When	Moment
Last year	Sehun made a surprise guest appearance at Kai’s solo concert, where the two performed together
January	They reunited on Jeongwating, a spin-off of the web variety show Jeongwaja (Changing Majors), which Kai hosts
Ongoing	They’ve appeared together in various EXO YouTube content
Upcoming	They’ll appear as travel partners on ENA’s variety show World Dice Tour 4

Why Fans Are Excited?

Proven chemistry: Their stage and variety moments have already won over viewers.
A fresh side of EXO: Units let members explore sounds and concepts that group albums don’t always allow.
Plenty of content ahead: With a variety show appearance and an album on the way, there’s more to watch before the release.

What to Watch For Next?

Expect teasers, concept images and a title announcement in the weeks ahead. SM usually reveals schedules gradually, so keep an eye on official channels for the release date and track details.
