Excited about the new LG 8K OLED displays? Let us brief you about the same

LG Display’s unique and personalised algorithm-based ‘EX Technology’ is used in the next-generation OLED EX display, which improves overall picture quality by up to 30% as compared to traditional OLED displays.

The name OLED EX is an acronym for ‘Evolution’ and ‘eXperience,’ which emphasises the company’s mission of bringing new experiences to customers through its ever-evolving OLED technology.

OLED displays are self-emissive by design, with millions of pixels generating light without the need for an external backlight. OLED EX is able to provide perfect black, rich and accurate colour expression, and a lightning-fast response time thanks to its distinguishing feature.

LG Display has been steadily upgrading its leading OLED technology since 2013 when it became the first to mass-produce OLED TV panels. OLED EX is the culmination of the company’s unrivalled knowledge and expertise gathered over nearly ten years of producing OLED displays, designed to produce the most lifelike visuals that go beyond the boundaries of a traditional display.

The EX Technology used in OLED EX displays blends deuterium chemicals with tailored algorithms to improve the organic light-emitting diode’s stability and efficiency, ultimately boosting total display performance. OLED EX displays use EX Technology to achieve unprecedented levels of picture accuracy and brightness, allowing them to accurately present exquisite, realistic details and colours without distortion – such as reflections.

OLED EX displays use EX Technology to achieve unprecedented levels of picture accuracy and brightness, allowing them to correctly portray delicate, realistic details and colours, such as the reflection of sunlight on a river or each individual vein of a tree leaf, without any distortion.

Deuterium compounds are utilised to manufacture organic light-emitting diodes that are more efficient and emit more light. For the first time, LG Display has successfully transformed the hydrogen components found in organic light-emitting elements into stable deuterium and applied the compounds to OLED EX.

Deuterium is twice as heavy as regular Hydrogen, and there is very little of it in nature – only one atom of Deuterium is found in every 6,000 regular Hydrogen atoms. LG Display figured a learned way to get deuterium out of the water and use it in organic light-emitting devices. The Deuterium compounds, once stable, allow the display to emit stronger light while keeping high efficiency for extended periods of time.

Furthermore, the OLED EX is more in control of its own device thanks to LG Display’s own “personalised algorithm” based on machine learning technology. After learning individual viewing patterns, the computer forecasts the use of up to 33 million organic light-emitting diodes based on 8K OLED displays and precisely manages the display’s energy input to better convey the intricacies and colours of the video content being played.

Through the new OLED EX technology, LG Display has also improved its designs. Based on 65-inch OLED screens, the business used its unique EX Technology to reduce bezel thickness from 6 to 4 mm. The OLED EX display delivers a more immersive viewing experience while maintaining a sleeker and premium style by lowering the thickness by 30% compared to previous OLED screens.

Starting in the second quarter of 2022, LG Display plans to integrate OLED EX technology into all OLED TV displays manufactured at its OLED manufacturing lines in Paju, South Korea, and Guangzhou, China, to reinforce its leadership and product competitiveness in the large-sized OLED industry.

LG Display sold 200,000 OLED TV displays in its first year of commercial manufacturing in 2013, and by early last year, the business had accumulated sales of 10 million units. The company’s global sales have more than doubled in the two years since then, surpassing 20 million units.

“Despite the fact that the global TV market fell by 12% this year, we saw a 70% increase in OLED sales,” stated Dr. Oh Chang-ho, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Display’s TV Business Unit. “Through the advancement of our OLED technology, algorithms, and designs, we want to create even more unique, high-end customer experiences with our new OLED EX technology.”

Our Final Words on LG 8K OLED displays:

There’s no scope of doubt left that LG has left any stone unturned in making its products worth the value. Let us know your thoughts on the same.
