The U.S.S. Enterprise is warping back into our lives, and this time it comes with a bittersweet edge — Season 4 is the last full-length chapter before the show wraps entirely. Cowboys, black holes, puppets, and even a returning James T. Kirk are all part of the ride. Here’s everything confirmed ahead of premiere night.

When and How to Watch

Season 4 premieres globally on Paramount+ on Thursday, July 23, 2026, notably landing on the opening night of San Diego Comic-Con. New episodes drop weekly every Thursday, wrapping up with the finale on September 24. That’s a full 10-episode run, matching the length of the previous three seasons. Paramount+ plans start at $8.99 a month, and all 30 episodes from Seasons 1–3 are already available to binge before the premiere.

Who’s Back Aboard the Enterprise?

The full ensemble returns, led by Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, alongside Rebecca Romijn (Una Chin-Riley), Ethan Peck (Spock), Christina Chong (La’an Noonien-Singh), Jess Bush (Christine Chapel), Celia Rose Gooding (Uhura), Melissa Navia (Erica Ortegas), Babs Olusanmokun (Dr. M’Benga), and Martin Quinn (Scotty).

The biggest headline, though, is the confirmed return of Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk, reprising the role he first played in the Season 1 finale. Carol Kane also returns as Commander Pelia in the same guest-star capacity as last season.

What’s the Plot This Time?

Paramount+’s official synopsis promises the crew will “battle inner demons and external threats, encounter colorful new characters, reunite with familiar faces and confront terrifying aliens” while striving toward “a bright, hopeful future.” True to form, the season leans into Star Trek‘s tradition of standalone, genre-hopping episodes rather than one continuous arc.

Among the confirmed highlights: a puppet-themed episode crafted by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, a dinosaur puppet reportedly repurposed from Jurassic Park, and an episode featuring a distress signal that turns out to be a trap. Co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman has called this “the best work we’ve done,” crediting a smoother, less rushed production schedule compared to Season 3.

Why This Season Matters

Because Season 5 has already been confirmed as a shortened, six-episode farewell season designed to bridge directly into the original 1960s Star Trek timeline, Season 4 is effectively the last full, exploratory season the show will get. That gives extra weight to character arcs — especially Pike’s, given what fans already know about his fate from the original series canon.
