Epson Lifestudio Projectors Get Google TV with Gemini AI

Epson announced at CES 2026 that select Lifestudio projectors will integrate Google TV with Gemini AI, becoming one of the first projector lines to feature Google’s advanced conversational AI assistant. Powered by MediaTek’s system-on-chip platform, these projectors deliver an elevated AI-powered streaming experience with conversational voice control, personalized recommendations, and smart home integration—positioning projectors as true alternatives to smart TVs.

First Projectors with Gemini Integration

Epson Lifestudio is one of the first projector lineups to integrate Google TV with Gemini for AI-powered streaming, replacing the older Google Assistant with conversational AI capabilities that enable natural, free-flowing interactions directly on the big screen.

Google TV with Gemini Features

Conversational AI for Big Screen Entertainment

With Gemini, Epson projectors deliver a smarter, more intuitive way to discover, control, and enjoy content without jumping between apps or menus. Gemini for TV goes beyond basic commands, letting users engage in free-flowing conversations with their big screen to find what to watch, explore topics of interest, and handle everyday tasks.

“As smart home ecosystems evolve, people are prioritizing technology that delivers seamless connectivity and ease of use—especially when it comes to home entertainment,” said Melvin Diaz, senior product manager for home entertainment at Epson America.

Unified Content Discovery

Browse over 700,000 movies and episodes, live TV, and more in one place, eliminating the need to jump between individual apps. The unified interface aggregates content from multiple streaming services, providing a single access point for all entertainment with personalized recommendations that find your next favorite content inspired by what you’ve watched.

The single watchlist feature allows users to save content from their phone and watch it later on the big screen, creating seamless transitions between devices throughout the day.

Smart Home Hub Functionality

Projection becomes the center of your smart home with the ability to control compatible lights, doorbell, thermostat, and more from the new home panel. This positions the Lifestudio projector as more than just an entertainment device—it’s a central control interface for the entire connected home ecosystem.

Lifestudio Grand Gets Gemini First

The Lifestudio Grand projector will receive Gemini support first via firmware update in the coming months, with additional Lifestudio models following throughout 2026. Hardware specifications remain unchanged, maintaining 3LCD projection technology and Bose-tuned audio systems across portable and ultra-short-throw designs.

The Gemini experience requires a Google Account and internet connection of 5Mbps for HD or 25Mbps for 4K streaming, with firmware updates enabling the feature automatically on compatible models.

MediaTek Partnership Powers Innovation

Lifestudio projectors offer seamless user experiences leveraging MediaTek’s SoC smart projector platform. “With built-in access to streaming services and advanced AI-driven features, the MediaTek-powered Lifestudio projectors deliver the magic of a home theater in a portable, all-in-one form factor,” said CK Wang, MediaTek general manager.

Competing with Smart TVs

“AI is innovating at a rapid pace across nearly all consumer-facing industries,” Diaz added. “Integrating Google TV with Gemini into projectors further strengthens the smart home experience, enabling more intuitive interactions and smarter recommendations that enhance how people discover and enjoy their favorite entertainment.”

As the world’s largest projector brand, Epson’s early embrace of Gemini represents a strategic move to position projectors as viable alternatives to oversized TVs. By closing the usability gap with smarter content discovery, conversational control, and tighter smart-home integration, Epson addresses the key advantages that have traditionally favored televisions.

The Lifestudio lineup is thoughtfully engineered with custom audio developed in conjunction with Bose, the latest Epson 3LCD projection technology, and Google TV for easy access to streaming apps—creating an immersive entertainment experience from personal portable models to ultra-short-throw designs.
