Enola Holmes 3 is officially coming to Netflix in Summer 2026, and if you loved the first two films, there’s plenty of reason to be excited. But fair warning: this one is being deliberately crafted to feel different — darker, moodier, and aimed at a slightly older audience than before.

Enola Holmes 3: A New Director, A New Direction

The biggest behind-the-scenes shift? Harry Bradbeer — who helmed both previous films — has been replaced by Philip Barantini, known for Boiling Point and his work on Chernobyl and Band of Brothers. He’s a director who thrives under pressure and leans into gritty realism, which tells you a lot about the tone Netflix is chasing here.

Screenwriter Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials) returns to craft the script, and the story takes Enola far from London — all the way to Malta, where a new case collides with her personal life in unexpected ways.

Netflix’s official logline: “Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before.”

Who’s Coming Back?

The main cast is all returning, and that includes the fan-favourite pairing of Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill as siblings Enola and Sherlock Holmes.

Actor	Role
Millie Bobby Brown	Enola Holmes
Henry Cavill	Sherlock Holmes
Louis Partridge	Ernest Tewksbury
Helena Bonham Carter	Eudoria Holmes

Enola Holmes 3 Behind the Scenes — Fun Facts

Production kicked off at Shepperton Studios in Surrey on April 10, 2025 before relocating to Malta for over a month. The island shoot employed more than 360 local crew members and was a major boost for Malta’s film industry.

It wasn’t entirely smooth sailing, though — filming was briefly halted in June 2025 after cast and crew, including Millie Bobby Brown herself, fell ill from suspected contaminated seafood. Everyone recovered quickly, and the shoot officially wrapped on June 27, 2025, with Millie posting behind-the-scenes photos captioned simply: “Case closed.”
