What Is Walk the Blue Fields About?

The film is an adaptation of two short stories — “Walk the Blue Fields” and “Night of the Quicken Trees” — from Claire Keegan‘s acclaimed 2007 collection. The story follows a woman on her wedding day who is confronted with a heart-wrenching decision as a love triangle from her past threatens to be revealed.

Notably, the adaptation shifts the POV to Margaret Flusk — a significant change from the original short story, which was told from the Priest’s perspective. It’s a creative choice that puts the woman’s emotional journey front and centre, and with Emily Blunt in the role, that’s a very good sign.

The Dream Cast

Emily Blunt and Andrew Scott play the romantic leads, Margaret Flusk and Stark respectively. Blunt is best known for The Devil Wears Prada, A Quiet Place, Oppenheimer, and Edge of Tomorrow, while Scott brings fresh momentum from Ripley and Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. whats-on-netflix
