Elite Force Season 1’s Gut-Punch Ending: Season 2 Odds Explained

Fair warning: this French thriller does not go easy on its characters — or its viewers.Netflix’s Elite Force (also known as GIGN) has climbed the platform’s global charts fast, and its Season 1 finale delivers a gut-wrenching twist that’s got fans desperate to know what comes next.

Elite Force: Overview

What Happens in the Finale (Spoilers Ahead)

The finale centers on a tense hostage crisis at a music academy, engineered by a grieving mother seeking revenge against David and his elite squad. Without giving away every beat, the operation turns out to be a devastating decoy — and the emotional fallout hits David harder than any mission before it. It’s the kind of ending that redefines the show’s core relationships heading into any future chapters, much like classic entries in the action thriller genre that use a twist to reshape the story’s stakes.

Will There Be a Season 2?

No official renewal has landed yet, and recent French Netflix shows have mostly gone unrenewed — with Blood Coast being a notable exception.Lead actor Tomer Sisley has confirmed the finale’s biggest twist was planned from the start, though he hasn’t revealed whether more seasons are in the works. Given the show’s strong viewership numbers, the odds look promising, but Netflix hasn’t made it official.

Bottom Line

Elite Force leaves enough emotional and narrative threads open that a Season 2 feels like a natural next step — it’s now just a waiting game for Netflix’s green light.
