The Edits Film Festival concluded on October 14, convening filmmaker Farah Khan, a panel of industry judges, and over 100 content creators to recognize innovation in digital storytelling. The festival spotlighted creators who effectively utilized Edits, the video editing application from Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/), to transform raw footage into compelling narratives.
Three creators were honored for their distinct storytelling and proficient use of the Edits app: Ishank Gupta (@filmmaker.ishank), Sanya Rohillaa (@bunniestbunnytoeverbunnny), and Ahsan Vazir (@ahsanvazir_). Their submissions were selected by a jury comprising Ahsaas Channa, Dolly Singh, Nikhil Taneja, and Rajeev Masand.

Farah Khan Emphasizes Spontaneity in Content Creation
Filmmaker Farah Khan, a special guest at the event, shared her perspective on content creation, emphasizing the importance of spontaneity, relatability, and realness. Khan noted that her approach often eschews elaborate planning.
“People assume there’s a big plan behind it, but I don’t overthink what I post,” Khan stated. “Gen Z has inspired me — they’re so nonchalant about it, no second-guessing. Be it a clip from my show, a random chat or a bit of mischief on the spot, everything is spontaneous for me. I think relatability and realness, with a bit of humor, are what audiences actually respond to on Instagram.”
Ankit Rihal, Head of Global Partnerships at Meta, India, affirmed the company’s commitment to supporting creators. “Enabling creators with the right tools, platforms and opportunities is central to what we do,” Rihal commented. He added that the festival aimed to encourage creative experimentation and the utilization of new features.
The festival, which began accepting submissions in August, invited creators to develop content using unpolished camera roll footage, edited with the Edits app. The event underscores the evolving landscape of digital media and the increasing demand for accessible, user-friendly tools that empower creators to produce professional-quality content. Such initiatives are crucial for understanding and adapting to the latest industry developments in content creation (https://technosports.co.in/).
