EA FC 27 “The Grounds”: EA Sports Brings Open-World Football to Life for the First time

For over three decades, EA’s football franchise has lived inside menus and matches. That changes with FC 27. EA Sports has officially unveiled The Grounds, a brand-new open-world social hub that marks the series’ first genuine departure from traditional menu navigation — and it’s already got fans buzzing.

What Exactly Is The Grounds?

Think NBA Park, but built for football. Instead of clicking through menus to find a game mode, players will step into a living, shared world populated by other real players, football activities and interactive challenges. It’s designed to make the experience feel social and connected rather than transactional.

What You Can Actually Do

The Grounds packs in plenty to explore: multiple football-themed districts, Clubs integration, street football and skill challenges, avatar customization with outfits and cosmetics, player progression across activities, and access to special live events.

Key Details

The Mentor System — And Alex Hunter’s Return

Perhaps the biggest surprise from the reveal trailer was the cliffhanger appearance of Alex Hunter, the beloved protagonist from FC’s old “The Journey” story mode, confirmed alongside World Cup Golden Boot winner Kylian Mbappé as launch mentors. EA hasn’t detailed exactly how the mentor system will function, but it’s expected to guide players through challenges and unlock exclusive rewards.
