Does Ji-hyeok Recover His Memories?

Yes! After a devastating car accident orchestrated by rival Yoo Tae-young, Ji-hyeok suffers complete amnesia and forgets his entire relationship with Da-rim. The kiss at the Jeju banquet restores his memory completely, mirroring their first magical encounter at the same venue.

The memory recovery happens exactly one year post-accident when Da-rim wears the blue dress Ji-hyeok originally bought her. Their accidental kiss—the show’s signature “dynamite kiss”—triggers fragmented memories that cascade into full recollection. Ji-hyeok asks Da-rim for a second kiss, just as he did the first time, confirming his complete recovery.

The Controversial Finale Choice

The amnesia twist sparked heated debate among fans who felt the last-minute plot device disrupted the romantic payoff. Viewers took to social media criticizing the unnecessary memory loss and time slip elements introduced in the final episode. Many argued the established chemistry between leads deserved a straightforward happy ending without manufactured obstacles.

Despite criticism, the finale delivered resolution: Ji-hyeok proposes immediately after recovery, and the series jumps several years forward, showing Da-rim as CEO of Dream and Baby, working alongside Ji-hyeok and their former team. The couple’s two children and thriving business partnership offered fans the closure they craved.

Will There Be Season 2?

Currently, no Season 2 has been announced for Dynamite Kiss. The finale provides definitive closure with marriage, children, and career success clearly depicted. According to Nielsen Korea ratings, the final episode achieved 8.1% peak ratings and topped its time slot, concluding on a high note that suggests narrative completion rather than continuation.

The series maintained strong international performance on Netflix’s non-English global charts, particularly resonating across Americas and Asia. However, director Kim Jae-hyun and writers Ha Yoon-ah and Tae Kyung-min crafted a closed-door ending that leaves little room for extension.

FAQs

How does the amnesia plot affect the Dynamite Kiss ending?

Ji-hyeok’s amnesia creates a one-year separation where he experiences only fragmented memories of Da-rim without full recollection. The plot device, while controversial, reinforces the series’ central theme that their “dynamite kiss” possesses magical memory-restoring properties. Da-rim chooses to leave rather than burden Ji-hyeok, but fate reunites them at the original Jeju banquet location where an accidental kiss instantly restores all his memories, leading to their proposal and marriage.

Is Dynamite Kiss available for international streaming?

Yes, all 14 episodes of Dynamite Kiss are available for streaming on Netflix globally following its broadcast conclusion on SBS TV. The series aired from November 12 to December 25, 2025, and gained significant international traction, particularly across Asian and American markets where it consistently ranked high on Netflix’s non-English content charts throughout its run.
