The Biggest Trailer Moments Broken Down

1. Paul and Chani — The Baby Names Scene

The trailer opens with Paul and Chani discussing names for their potential child — Ghanima “so she would be strong like her mother,” and Leto, after Paul’s father, “so he would have the wisdom of his grandfather.” For book readers, those names carry enormous generational weight — but even casual viewers will feel the emotional precision of this moment. It’s a rare soft beat in an otherwise brutal film.

2. Chani’s Blue Scarf Is Back

Zendaya’s Chani is shown wearing her Nezhoni blue scarf — which Villeneuve confirmed signals she has fallen in love, not worn in her final scene of Part Two when she stormed off in anger. Wikipedia Their reunion is clearly near the beginning of the story, before the 17-year jump.

3. Jason Momoa Returns as Duncan Idaho — As Hayt

Jason Momoa, who had a heroic death in Dune: Part One, returns in the new film laughingplace in a role deeply rooted in the source material. Villeneuve confirmed: “He comes back just at the right moment in the story.” Book fans will know exactly why — and it’s a game-changing twist.

4. Robert Pattinson’s Scytale — A Face Dancer Villain

Robert Pattinson plays Scytale — not a traditional villain, but a morally complex Face Dancer who can alter his appearance at will, making him a master manipulator. Fox News Reviewers have already called him “delightfully deranged” and he is arguably the most intriguing new addition to the entire Dune franchise.

5. Anya Taylor-Joy’s Alia Is Now Central

The 17-year timeline jump is largely driven by Anya Taylor-Joy’s Alia, who was still in the womb at the end of Part Two. The new film needs her fully grown, and the trailer shows her praying alongside Paul and leading Atreides followers. screenrant

6. Paul’s Holy War — The Galaxy Burns

Paul and Stilgar are shown colonising far-off planets. The trailer closes with Paul gripping a dagger: “I’m not afraid to die, but I must not die yet.” IMDb Chani is also shown fighting atop a sandworm — a jaw-dropping visual.
