Drishyam: The Conclusion Box Office

A Strong Hold on Day 2

The film collected about Rs 52 crore nett on its second day, a drop of only 15% from opening day. Trade watchers call that an outstanding hold, especially since day 1 had a major holiday boost. A small fall like this signals strong word of mouth.

The first weekend is expected to close around Rs 170 crore nett.

Where It’s Performing Best?

Maharashtra led the way, falling only about 5% from Friday. The franchise has an especially strong following there.

The Hindi belt saw bigger drops, but they were still healthy:

• Delhi-NCR: down about 20%
• Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh: down about 25 to 30%

Those regions had a larger holiday boost on opening day, which explains the steeper dips.

Overseas and Worldwide Numbers

The film earned roughly USD 2.35 million (about Rs 22.50 crore) internationally on day 2. That takes its two-day overseas total to USD 4.10 million (about Rs 39 crore). Combined with India, the worldwide gross stands at around Rs 175 crore.

Conclusion

Trade analysts have already labelled the film a blockbuster on its opening, and this hold backs that up. The question now is how big it will be, and that depends on how it performs on weekdays. It’s also casting a shadow over other releases, including Sidharth Malhotra’s The Vvaan. You can read about the lead actor on Ajay Devgn’s Wikipedia page.
