Mohanlal has done it again. Drishyam 3, the most awaited Malayalam thriller of 2026, is tearing through the Kerala box office with jaw-dropping numbers — and the best part? It’s still only the first week.

The Numbers That Tell the Story
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, Drishyam 3 added an estimated Rs. 5.75 crore on its sixth day (Tuesday), registering only a 10% drop from Monday — a sign of extraordinary audience hold. That’s the kind of weekday retention blockbusters dream of.
The film has become the second-fastest Malayalam film to cross Rs. 50 crore in Kerala, trailing only Mohanlal’s own L2: Empuraan. In other words, the man just beat his own record with his next film. Only Mohanlal.

What’s Next for Drishyam 3?
The film is expected to receive a significant boost on Day 7 due to the Eid-al-Adha holiday, making a jump in collections highly likely. Projections suggest the movie will close its first week at around Rs. 57–58 crore in Kerala alone — a staggering figure.
With such a commanding weekday hold, the second weekend is set to be massive. Drishyam 3 is now firmly in the race to challenge Kerala’s all-time top grossers — Vaazha 2, Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, and Thudarum — and could realistically enter the Rs. 100 crore club in Kerala.
Globally, the film has already stormed past Rs. 142 crore worldwide in its opening weekend — a number that underlines just how far Mohanlal’s star power reaches.

Why Drishyam 3 Is a Cultural Phenomenon
Drishyam isn’t just a film franchise — it’s a generational event for Malayalam cinema audiences. Every installment raises the stakes, and the third chapter has clearly lived up to — if not exceeded — its massive expectations. Fans have come back not just for the plot twists, but for Georgekutty, a character that has become one of Indian cinema’s most beloved.
When a film holds 45% of its opening-day numbers on Day 6 on a working Tuesday, the word-of-mouth is doing all the work. That’s storytelling at its finest.
