If a rom-com plot ever needed a double-take, it’s this one. Double Occupancy, the offbeat Tamil fantasy film starring Santhosh and Reshma Venkatesh, has made its way from theatres straight into your watchlist.
After releasing in cinemas on June 12, 2026, Double Occupancy is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, available to watch online since July 10, 2026. Announcing the update, the makers wrote a cheeky note about “our Rajinis” bringing double the laughs, love, and entertainment home.
The Premise: One Person, Two Genders, Two Lives
The story follows a couple who, after 15 years of marriage, finally have a child — only for the newborn to pass away moments after birth. A mysterious miracle brings the child back, but with a twist: the child, named Rajini, lives as a girl from 6 am to 6 pm, and as a boy from 6 pm to 6 am. As an adult, the daytime Rajini becomes a researcher while the nighttime Rajini works as a bartender, each juggling their own relationships and leaving each other clues to survive the chaos.
