Don 3 Row: Aamir Khan Becomes Bollywood’s Peacemaker as Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar’s Battle

When Bollywood’s most powerful producers were spotted slipping out of Aamir Khan’s Mumbai residence one quiet Thursday evening, nobody thought it was about conflict resolution. But it was. The Don 3 dispute — one of Hindi cinema’s messiest fallouts in years — now has a new actor in the room, and this one isn’t playing any character.

How It All Unravelled

What began as a bold new chapter for Don 3 spiralled into a Rs 40 crore legal showdown. After creative disagreements and delays over a locked script, Ranveer exited the film in December 2025.

Excel Entertainment informed the Guild that Ranveer’s exit resulted in losses of approximately Rs 40 crore, despite the producers agreeing to several of his demands. Farhan maintained that Ranveer never flagged any script issues and was enthusiastic about portraying the third generation of Don after Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.

Ranveer’s team fired back. In meetings under the Guild’s supervision, Ranveer Singh’s team reportedly accused Excel of being unprofessional and not serious about starting the film — alleging the script was not fully finished and that they were waiting for a clearer, more developed final draft.

Aamir Khan Steps In — The Peacemaker Nobody Expected

After videos surfaced showing several producers leaving Aamir Khan’s residence, a source revealed the true reason: “Aamir is trying to resolve the issues between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment. The two have had some unresolved issues, which have caught the eye. The meetings at his place are for the same.”

The second closed-door meeting went deeper. On February 7, a second detailed meeting was held at Lands End under the aegis of the Producers Guild. Present were Aamir Khan, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ramesh Taurani, and Kumar Taurani. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani represented Excel and formally placed their concerns before the Guild members.

This is classic Bollywood industry politics — disputes rarely go to court. Instead, informal mediation by respected figures carries the real weight.

The Bigger Industry Fallout

A Guild source noted: “Producers today are bearing disproportionate financial pressure due to expanding entourage. Seeing that stars’ entourages remain bloated, as evident from this case, it’s best to put guidelines in place.” This dispute could rewrite how Bollywood contracts are drafted — specifically around entourage costs, locked scripts, and advance payment structures.

Weeks after Ranveer’s departure, Farhan Akhtar is hesitant to rush the casting process and has chosen to delay making a final decision — instead fast-tracking Jee Le Zaraa, starring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif.

Don 3 — the franchise once associated with Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic cool and Shah Rukh Khan’s suave reinvention — is now sitting in limbo while its future lead and producer argue over eight figures.
