Does Marcos Llorente deserve more appreciation than what he gets?

Marcos Llorente is in one of the best forms of his career recently. But he was not appreciated for his performance as much as he deserves.

Atletico Madrid has found themselves in great form this season as Luis Suárez scored 18 goals in their pursuit of La Liga. Atletico is now leading the La Liga table.

Marcos Llorente has a fair share of contribution in the Roji Blancos’ performance this season. He was excellent since scoring that famous brace at Anfield, which helped his side knock Liverpool last season.

Marcos Llorente joined Atletico Madrid in 2019 after some tough seasons at Real Madrid. The 26 years old Spanish midfielder is a very versatile player. He is originally a defensive midfielder or a playmaker in front of a back four. But he was equally influential in more advanced positions such as a central or box-to-box midfielder. Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has used him in multiple positions, and he delivered the best he can.

However, Llorente has 17 goal contributions this season with 9 goals and 8 assists. It is the second-highest goal contribution by any other midfielder in Europe. Only Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes [16g+10A] has a better contribution than him.

His equaliser against Athletic on Wednesday has secured a point for Atletico Madrid.
