Dochabi: The Story So Far
Set in Joseon’s northern borderlands, “Dochabi” follows Tae San, a former military officer living in hiding, who gets pulled back into danger when a corrupt official named Lee Do Gwan schemes to disguise slash-and-burn farmers as “barbarians” in order to hunt them down. As Tae San fights to stop the plot, both his own life and the life of someone he deeply cares about hang in the balance.
It’s the kind of morally charged, action-driven premise that has long defined historical drama as a genre, blending political intrigue with personal stakes.

Who’s Playing Who
Kim Do Hoon, best known for Moving and Dear X, leads as Tae San — marking one of his first major film roles after building his reputation primarily in television.
Jeon Jong Seo, who played Tokyo in Netflix’s Money Heist: Korea and starred in Ballerina, takes on the female lead role of Lee Ha Yi.
Lee Joon Gi, a veteran of hits like Arthdal Chronicles and Flower of Evil, steps into the villain role as the film’s antagonist — his first-ever Netflix project.
Rounding out the cast, Lee Sang Yi (Bloodhounds, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) has reportedly accepted the role of Park Se Ryong, marking his first Netflix film after several television credits.
Where Things Stand
Filming is set to begin in late August 2026 and continue through mid-January 2027. Given that timeline, the earliest realistic release window is Q4 2027, though a debut in the first half of 2028 is considered more likely. More clarity is expected once Netflix reveals its 2027 Korean content slate.
