There’s something a little heartbreaking about a beautifully crafted love story that just can’t find its audience in cinemas. Do Deewane Ek Seher Mein, produced by the legendary Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Ravi Udayawar, is facing exactly that fate — and the numbers from its second weekend make it brutally clear.
After 10 days in theatres, the film has collected a cumulative Rs. 6.55 crore nett, adding only Rs. 65 lakh during its 2nd weekend. There’s no gentle way to say it — this is a theatrical failure.

What Went Wrong?
The film had genuine pedigree going for it. Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur are both proven performers, and having Bhansali’s name attached as producer naturally raised expectations. The story — an endearingly imperfect couple navigating love amidst all their quirks — had warmth and relatability at its core.

But in today’s Bollywood landscape, even a lovely premise struggles to pull audiences away from their screens at home. The drop from Rs. 1.45 crore on Day 2 to just Rs. 0.15 crore on Day 8 is steep and unforgiving. The film essentially ran out of momentum before the second weekend even began.
This is a pattern that has become all too familiar for mid-budget romantic films in the post-pandemic era — critically noticed, emotionally appreciated, but commercially overlooked in theatres.
The supporting cast — which includes Ila Arun, Ayesha Raza, Sandeepa Dhar, and Joy Sengupta — deserved a better theatrical fate too.
