Just when you think a time travel drama can’t get more tangled, it adds another rule. Dive Into You episodes 5 and 6 did exactly that, with a twist about the twins’ soul swap, a very risky rescue plan and one unexpectedly funny kitchen scene.

1. The Soul Swap Isn’t What We Thought

Until now, viewers assumed the twins swapped souls only when the soaked camcorder sent them back in time. The new episodes show it works differently: they swap souls every time they time travel, in either direction. That matters a lot. After going back to 2011, the twins jump forward and land in 2013, not 2026. This time Ha Ru and Ha Na are each in their own bodies.

The danger is clear. If they now return to 2026, they will wake up in each other’s bodies in the present. And since they can’t choose which year they travel to, they could be stuck that way for life. For more background on the concept, see Wikipedia’s time travel page.

2. What If Jung Woo Jae Became an Actor?

The twins’ goal has always been to save Jung Woo Jae from being at the 2026 crime scene. So far they’ve tried to keep him in his judo career. Now Ha Na has a new idea. Because she’s a celebrity, people look out for her, so she wants to make Woo Jae famous too. She gets him cast as the lead in a film.

At first it looks like it’s working. His clip goes viral, and a group of girls turn up, claiming they’ve sworn to protect him. But viewers suspect something the twins don’t: Woo Jae may have been the real target all along, and fame could make him easier to find. Lee Hyeong Won, played by Kim Han Yeong, also resents him for loving Ha Na, so trouble seems certain.

The funniest moment comes in 2013. Because of his knee injury, Ha Ru never became a judo athlete and is now studying to be a chef. His instructor is a hilariously furious caricature of TV chefs. While classmates make ordinary pastries, Ha Ru makes a Dubai chewy cookie with pistachio butter and kadayif, and it stuns the chef. It’s a light, clever touch in an otherwise heavy plot.

What’s Next?

With the camcorder broken and Hyeong Won connecting the dots, the next episode looks intense. Will he discover the twins’ secret, and what happens if he does?
