Dhurandhar: From a Delayed Trailer Launch to a ₹1,300 Crore Blockbuster

Every blockbuster has an origin story, and Dhurandhar has a dramatic one. A postponed trailer launch, a nervous wait, and then a film that rewrote box-office records. Let’s rewind.

Dhurandhar Trailer: The Delay and the Big Reveal

The trailer launch was first put on hold after the Delhi blast, with a new date promised later. The makers then announced a fresh slot: the trailer would release on 18 November, with the film arriving in theatres three weeks later. It launched at a grand event in Mumbai and introduced the characters without revealing much of the storyline. sacnilkfreepressjournal

Dhurandhar: Overview

A quick correction: many posts list these dates as 2026. The trailer and release were actually in 2025. The 2026 date belongs to the sequel.

Why Dhurandhar Clicked With Audiences?

The trailer promised a gritty, high-intensity ride. It opened with Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal of ISI before panning to Ranveer in long hair and a beard. Add R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna and Aditya Dhar’s direction, and the film had both star power and swagger. It also confirmed a big-screen release, ending rumours of a direct-to-streaming debut.

The Box Office Story

The result was historic. The 2025 film became the highest-grossing single-language film of all time. That success set up huge expectations for the sequel, which got a worldwide theatrical release on 19 March 2026.
